Is it true what is narrated about Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, that he divorced his wife, whom he loved very much, so that she would not distract him from Allah, and so that she would not command him to do what displeases Allah?

It has not been reported that Umar ibn al-Khattab divorced his wife out of fear that she would distract him from Allah. Rather, what is established is the story of his command to his son Abdullah to divorce his wife whom he loved. A similar incident occurred with Abu Bakr al-Siddiq and his son Abd al-Rahman, who divorced his beloved wife upon his father's command, fearing that she would distract him from the command of Allah. Then his father commanded him to take her back when he saw the intensity of his grief over her.
