What are the forms in which jinn appear?

Allah Almighty granted the jinn the ability to take on different forms, including:

1. Human form: As occurred with Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, when Satan came to him in the form of a poor man to take from the charity food. 2. Animal form: Such as a black dog. It is authentically reported in Sahih Muslim that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The black dog is a devil," and blackness gathers satanic forces. 3. The form of snakes: This is why the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prohibited killing the house snakes (jinnān al-buyūt), fearing that the killed one might be a Muslim jinn. If any of them are seen in the city, a warning is given for three days before killing; after that, it is a devil.

A Muslim should fortify themselves with the remembrance of Allah and seek refuge in Him from the evils of jinn and devils.
