What is the ruling regarding a woman who had her marriage contract (aqd qiran) solemnized by a shaykh in the presence of her guardian (wali) and witnesses, and then had private meetings (khalawat) without consummation, then was divorced over the phone, and then had her marriage contract solemnized with another man without informing him of her first marriage? Is the 'iddah (waiting period) obligatory upon her? And how should she act in this situation?

The 'iddah (waiting period) is obligatory for a woman if she is divorced after a proper khalwa (private meeting with her husband) and is entitled to the full mahr (bridal gift). The 'iddah begins from the date the divorce is pronounced and ends after three menstrual cycles for women who menstruate. A second marriage is valid if it takes place after the 'iddah has expired.
