What is the ruling on someone who falsely told his friend that he swore an oath of triple divorce upon his wife, and does not remember whether or not he told him that there would be a breach of the oath?

If someone falsely tells another that he swore by divorcing his wife, or falsely states that a divorce has occurred, then no divorce takes place.

Lying is forbidden and must be avoided, except for what the Sharia has permitted out of necessity.
