What is the ruling on believing that there are things in this world better than those in Paradise, such as sleep and the beauty of worldly women, and is this belief a sin that warrants punishment, taking into account His, the Almighty's, saying: {And you will have therein whatever your souls desire, and you will have therein whatever you request}?

The belief that anything in this world is better than Paradise is false and contradicts the texts of the Qur’an. This world is a fleeting and limited enjoyment compared to the Hereafter and its eternal bliss, which knows no deficiency. Scholars have warned that acts of worship in this world are not superior to the delights of Paradise, because the delights of Paradise are the right of the servant, while acts of worship are the right of the Lord. The correct view is that the Hereafter is absolutely better than the first [world], for therein is the perfection of knowledge, the uncovering of truths, the vision of Allah, glory be to Him, and the perfection of deeds that benefit the people of Paradise perpetually. As for sleep, it is a deficiency and a cause of fatigue, and the people of Paradise do not sleep and do not die; they will have whatever they desire that is consistent with sound human nature.
