With whom will a woman be in Paradise if she dies, having been married in her lifetime to more than one man?

The scholars' opinions on this matter can be summarized into three: that the woman will be with the best of her husbands in character, or that she will be given a choice among them, or that she will be with her last husband.

The first opinion is very weak because the hadith narrated concerning it is very weak due to two defects in its chain of transmission. No evidence has been reported for the second opinion. The third opinion is the most probable, as it was reported in a hadith مرفوع (traced back) to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Any woman whose husband dies, and she then marries after him, she will be with her last husband." Al-Albani authenticated it. This opinion has been supported by mawquf (وقف) narrations from Hudhayfah and Asma, which are suitable for strengthening the marfu' hadith and indicating that this opinion has a considerable basis.
