Is it permissible to benefit from educational papers uploaded by former students online, or must they be purchased from the original instructors?

The old papers that teachers provided for free, and which students photographed and uploaded online, and the teachers did not object to that; there is no harm in benefiting from them. However, new papers require their permission, because intellectual property rights are protected by Islamic law.
