What are the virtues of memorizing and recalling Hadith?

There is no explicit text that specifies a particular reward for memorizing a specific number of hadiths. However, memorizing them is a virtuous act and a great form of worship. Memorizing them helps in understanding them and conveying them to people. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed for radiance for whoever heard his words, memorized them, and conveyed them. Radiance here means beauty, splendor, and blessings in this world and the Hereafter. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also likened people to rain falling on land. The learner, the teacher, and the one who gathers knowledge and conveys it to others are praiseworthy, while the one who neither learns nor teaches is blameworthy. Therefore, memorizing and spreading hadiths are among the reasons for entering Paradise, and they are characteristics of scholars who are the inheritors of the prophets. It is a preservation of the religion and a safeguarding of its fundamentals, and it spreads knowledge and the Sunnah, which indicates that Allah intended good for the one who does it.
