Is a very tiny spot of blood considered menstruation, especially if nothing follows it?

Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on a single drop of blood. The majority opinion is that it is not considered menstruation (hayd) because it is less than their minimum period for menstruation, and they consider it to be irregular bleeding (istihada). However, the Malikis hold that the minimum period for menstruation can be a single discharge. According to the well-known madhhab, the minimum period for menstruation is one day and one night. Therefore, a single drop of blood has no ruling unless the bleeding continues for a day and a night, at which point the woman must wash the area and perform ablution (wudu').
