What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding the completion of the marriage of a girl to a young man addicted [to drugs], to whom she is clinging, despite his family's attempts to conceal his addiction?

The questioner is advised not to insist on clinging to the addicted man as long as he has not sincerely repented, because drug addiction is a chronic disease that brings misery to his family. An addict may harm his wife, and he may trade with the honor of his family. Therefore, she is advised to end the association with him by requesting khul' (divorce at the wife's instance) or talaq (definition) (divorce). The marriage contract is valid, and the wife or her guardian does not have the right to annul it due to their negligence in investigating his condition, unless her guardian forced her into it against her will, in which case she has the right to annul it. If she insists on staying with him and knows herself to have strong faith and is able to advise him, then it is not forbidden for her to stay.
