What is the ruling on using red cabbage mixed with urine to determine the sex of the fetus, given the conflicting experimental results regarding its outcomes?

There is no Shari'ah impediment to using scientific methods to determine the gender of the fetus, or to using boiled red cabbage water or other foods in the mentioned manner to determine the gender of the fetus, provided its benefit is scientifically proven and there is a need for it. Just as it is permissible to use salt, which is edible, for washing clothes from blood, and to rub with bran, and wash hands with fava bean flour, and so on; because there is no harm in using an edible substance out of necessity.
