Is it permissible to recite the Qur’an for the deceased, given that this was not reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him), and why did the Companions not do so?

It is permissible to dedicate the reward of reciting the Quran to the deceased. The hadith "I will not seek forgiveness for you until you seek forgiveness for Khadijah" has not been reported. It is established that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the senior Companions sought forgiveness for Muslims, living and dead. It was not from the guidance of the Prophet or the Companions to recite the Quran for the dead, and it is better to limit oneself to supplication and seeking forgiveness. However, if the Quran is recited for them, it is permissible under certain conditions.
