Should a girl continue to supplicate for a young man who proposed to her, but whose parents refused their marriage? And should she stop supplicating for him or continue? And how does she know that he is destined for her?

We advise you to strive diligently in supplicating to Allah to grant you a righteous husband, and to turn your heart away from attachment to this man. Occupy your time with what benefits you in matters of religion and worldly life. If someone whose religiosity and character you approve of proposes to you, do not reject him. Bear in mind that a servant has no way of knowing the unseen, but Allah's decrees unfold with His wisdom and mercy. He is more merciful and more knowledgeable about what is best for us. Do not grieve over missing the opportunity to marry this man, for Allah might divert something you desire away from you and reserve something better for you. As Allah Almighty says: "But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not." (Al-Baqarah: 216). A servant is ignorant of what is truly beneficial for himself, and of his Lord's generosity, wisdom, and kindness.
