Is drawing anime forbidden?

The ruling on drawing anime is the same as the ruling on drawing animate beings by hand, which is prohibited by the majority of scholars due to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "Those who make these images will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to them: 'Give life to what you have created.'" And part of the completeness of repentance from drawing anime is to get rid of them by effacing them, due to Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, saying to Abu al-Hayyaj al-Asadi: "Shall I not send you on what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent me: that you do not leave any elevated grave without leveling it, nor any image in a house without effacing it." And effacing them means obliterating them by cutting off their heads or changing their faces.
