Is it permissible for me to open and read books of remembrance (adhkar) without a shaykh?

It is permissible for a Muslim to read alone from books of adhkar (remembrances) and du'a (supplications); in fact, he should be diligent in doing so, as stated in the fatwas of the Permanent Committee for Issuing Fatwas. It is recommended to read books such as "Al-Adhkar" by An-Nawawi, "Al-Wabil Al-Sayyib" by Ibn Al-Qayyim, and "Al-Kalim At-Tayyib" by Ibn Taymiyyah to learn the morning and evening adhkar. Care must be taken to ensure that the book is free from errors, and if a Muslim makes a mistake in a word unintentionally, there is no sin upon him, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah has pardoned for my Ummah their mistakes, their forgetfulness, and what they are forced to do."
