Are there cases in which disputation (al-mira') is good?
The blameworthy dispute (miraa') in Islamic law is that which contains harms and dangers, and it is obligatory to avoid it. As for disputing with the intention of debate and argumentation to manifest the truth and refute falsehood, it is a مطلوب (required) and praiseworthy form of debate in Islamic law, as Allah Almighty says: {And debate with them in the most kindly manner}.
