What is the ruling on saying: "O Lord, grant me the like of so-and-so in beauty, morals, knowledge, wealth, a job, and everything that fulfills dreams?"

There is no impediment to supplicating with the words: "O Allah, I ask You for a job like so-and-so's," because it is a supplication for a specific worldly matter, and it is permissible, just like supplicating to become an engineer or a doctor. Indeed, Ibn Umar used to supplicate for everything, even that Allah would make his riding animal's walk spacious. This is evident in the story of the boy whose mother said: "O Allah, make my son like him," and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not disapprove of this supplication. Ibn Hajar also asked to reach Al-Dhahabi's level of memorization. It is recommended to ask Allah for well-being, goodness, and provision in general, because what is suitable for one person may not be suitable for another, especially in worldly matters.
