Indeed, the call by some for a woman to have multiple husbands is a great corruption and evil, contrary to sound human nature. It destroys society, severs its ties, and negates rights. No divine law has ever permitted it; rather, it contradicts sound human nature and leads to numerous corruptions: 1. The corruption and ruin of society, because jealousy is an innate human trait, and polygyny (polyandry) would lead to an eruption of jealousy, disputes, and fighting among the husbands. 2. The mixing of lineages, which leads to the neglect of children and their upbringing, resulting in a lost generation that knows neither father nor family.

Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned in his book "I'lam al-Muwaqqi'in" that permitting polygyny for men while prohibiting polyandry for women is part of Allah's perfect wisdom and mercy. If a woman were permitted to marry more than one husband, the world would be corrupted, lineages would be lost, and husbands would kill one another.
