The answer

If a woman menstruates during Ramadan, fasting becomes prohibited for her, and she must make up the missed fasts, based on the hadith of Aisha: "That [menstruation] used to afflict us, so we were commanded to make up the fasts, but we were not commanded to make up the prayers." Her obligation is discharged only by fasting.

The questioner must fast the number of days she missed. If she does not know the exact number, she should fast until she is reasonably sure that her obligation has been discharged.

She is also liable for an expiation for delaying the make-up fasts until another Ramadan begins. This expiation is feeding a poor person for each day (750 grams of rice or its equivalent).
