Is it recommended to raise one’s voice with the greeting of "peace" (Salam) upon entering the mosque during congregational prayer, and is that permissible even if it disturbs those who are praying?

The majority of scholars are of the opinion that it is permissible to greet a person who is praying, as long as it does not lead to distraction or invalidate the prayer of an ignorant person. However, the Hanafis disliked this. The response to the person praying should be by gesture, not by verbal utterance, because a verbal response invalidates the prayer. If the prayer has finished, one may respond verbally; otherwise, a gesture suffices.
