What can a Muslim woman do if she finds herself thinking about zina (unlawful sexual intercourse)?

Thinking about zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) takes two forms: fleeting thoughts, for which a person is not held accountable, but it is best to get rid of them; and thoughts accompanied by determination and intention, which should be treated by: thinking about marriage; fasting if marriage is not possible; strengthening faith through reciting the Quran, performing supererogatory prayers, and other acts of worship; choosing righteous company; avoiding everything that incites desire, such as forbidden glances; and remembering the consequences of zina in this world and the hereafter.
