My husband said: "If you log onto Facebook, you will be divorced."

If a husband makes his wife's divorce contingent on a condition, the prevailing legal opinion (fatwa) is that the wife is divorced when the condition is met, regardless of whether the husband intended divorce or merely a threat. This differs from Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, who holds that expiation (kaffarah) is required if the husband did not intend divorce.

Accordingly, if the wife were to access Facebook, she would be divorced. The husband may take her back (raj'ah) before the expiration of her waiting period ('iddah), provided he has not divorced her more than once before. It should be emphasized that obedience to the husband is obligatory in what is permissible, and one should beware of the dangers of the internet.
