Is the father's work at Banque Misr Al-Islami for over twenty years permissible or forbidden? Working in usurious banks is forbidden due to its involvement in aiding sin and transgression, and in spreading forbidden usury. This is based on the Almighty's saying: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression," and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Allah has cursed the one who consumes Riba, the one who gives it, the one who records it, and the two witnesses to it." He said: "They are all equal." Therefore, anyone working in a usurious bank must immediately leave their job, repent, and dispose of the remaining money in charitable ways. Forbidden things are not permissible except in cases of extreme necessity.
