What is the ruling on helping people obtain their rights from the sponsor through illegal means?

Rights must be ascertained. If a person's right is established, and he is unable to reclaim it through legal means, then he is permitted to reclaim it by any available means, provided that it does not involve aggression, forgery, a greater corruption, or the loss of others' rights. This is known as the issue of al-Zafar (gaining one's right by force if necessary). It is permissible for anyone to help the rightful owner reclaim his right, due to the general statement of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or oppressed."
