Is it permissible to pray while wearing pants?

It is permissible for men and women to pray in trousers if they are worn under clothes. It is disliked to pray in them outwardly if they describe the 'awrah (parts of the body that should be covered), and this dislike is emphasized for women. If the trousers are specific to men, it is forbidden for women to wear them in prayer or outside of it, due to the prohibition of resembling the opposite gender, because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed women who imitate men and men who imitate women."
