What is the ruling on putting garlic on the hair, and is it permissible to pray with it if the time for prayer has begun?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade eating garlic before entering the mosque because angels are bothered by what bothers people, and scholars disliked eating anything with a foul smell. The prayer of someone who has eaten garlic is valid, because what is prohibited is entering the mosque so as not to bother the worshipers. There is no difference between eating it and applying it to the hair as long as the cause—which is the smell—is present. If it disappears, then there is no objection.
