Is the prayer of one who has eaten garlic or onions and entered the mosque before their smell has dissipated valid?

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prohibited those who ate garlic, onions, and leeks from approaching the mosques, so as not to harm the angels and the worshippers. Scholars differed on this matter, with opinions ranging between dislike (karahah) and prohibition (tahreem). Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali and Ibn Baz affirmed that whoever eats these plants and enters the mosque commits a sin. Nevertheless, the prayer of one who does so is valid, as the prohibition is on approaching the mosque with the offensive odor, and not on the prayer itself.
