Is it permissible to buy and raise a tiger, and is it considered one of the cats?

It is not permissible to buy or sell a tiger unless it is among those that can be trained for hunting, and it generally does not accept training. It is also not permissible to keep it for purposes other than hunting due to the extravagance, waste, and danger involved, and because keeping it might be for ostentation.
