What is the ruling on wearing prayer beads (rosary) around the neck?

There is no harm in using prayer beads (misbaha) for tasbeeh (glorifying God). If the intention is good, then it is good and not disliked. However, it is preferable to use the fingers of both hands. As for wearing prayer beads around the neck with the intention of worship, this is not permissible. If it is for safekeeping, then there is no harm, but it is better to avoid it to steer clear of showing off.
