How does one appropriately respond to a close person who asks for an opinion about a girl he wishes to marry, while the girl does not conform to the characteristics of a righteous Muslim woman, and is telling the truth considered an injustice to the girl, or is not telling the truth considered an injustice to the young man?

A Muslim is commanded to conceal the faults of his Muslim brother, and it is not permissible for him to mention his shortcomings to people, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever conceals a Muslim's fault, Allah will conceal his fault on the Day of Resurrection." However, it is permissible to disclose significant defects to a suitor or fiancée, because that is considered sincere advice in religion, based on his (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Religion is sincere advice." Therefore, it is permissible to alert the suitor to defects that significantly impact marital life, provided there is certainty and assurance of their existence. As for suspicions, insignificant defects, or defects from which the girl has repented, it is not permissible to mention them, as that constitutes forbidden backbiting.
