What is the explanation of the saying "Work for your worldly life as though you will live forever, and work for your Hereafter as though you will die tomorrow"?

Furthermore, matters of the Hereafter should be present in the servant's heart, leading them to constantly engage in and hasten to perform good deeds, out of fear of death and falling short, as evidenced by the verse: "And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow." The statement indicates that striving for this world does not contradict striving for the Hereafter, provided one knows the limits of each and does not allow one to overshadow the other.
