After all the humiliation, degradation, and defamation you have endured, will you marry and consider what happened a tribulation and an expiation for sins, or will you pursue the path of revenge and litigation despite the lack of evidence? Do you have the right to ask them to take an oath, and did you wrong yourself with everything that happened?

What you did, blackmailing the woman because of a secret you know about her, is forbidden, and you must sincerely repent from it. We advise you to pardon and forgive those who wronged and mistreated you, for forgiveness is closer to piety. If you wish to seek redress for yourself through legitimate means by suing them, there is no harm, knowing that the burden of proof is on the claimant and the oath is on the denier. Your silence about the abuses, considering it for the sake of Allah and as help for families, does not fall under self-wronging. However, if the aggressor is openly sinful and harmful, then punishing him is more appropriate than forgiving him.
