What is meant by "their covenant and their oaths" in the noble verse: "Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a small price - those will have no share in the Hereafter, and Allah will not speak to them or look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them; and they will have a painful punishment"?

Al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir interpreted verse 77 of Surat Aal-Imran to mean that “those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a small price” are those who substitute Allah's covenant to them regarding the following of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and swear false oaths to unlawfully acquire people's wealth, in exchange for a paltry worldly gain. Such individuals will have no share in the blessings of the Hereafter and the delights of Paradise.
