What is the ruling on a lawyer who defends the ownership of private real estate that has been owned for more than 250 Hijri years, by virtue of a legal deed, which the Awqaf (Endowments) recently claimed ownership of without presenting any proof of its disposal of it during the past hundred years?

A lawyer either defends the truth, in which case he is rewarded if he intends it for the sake of Allah, and his work falls under the general command of enjoining good and forbidding evil and assisting the oppressed. Or he disputes on behalf of falsehood, in which case he becomes a partner in sin and in devouring people's wealth unjustly, and he contravenes Allah's saying: (And do not cooperate in sin and aggression). This type of issue falls within the jurisdiction of the Sharia courts.
