My question is: Is it permissible to say of someone intelligent that he is one of the angels?

There is no harm in likening some humans to angels in a characteristic that is established for angels, such as beauty and handsomeness, purity and steadfastness in obedience, benefiting creation, intellect, and understanding. This is based on the Almighty's saying: "This is not a human; this is none other than a noble angel." (Surat Yusuf: 31).
