What is the ruling on sufficing with the greeting "Al-Salam" without completing it with "Al-Salam Alaykum wa Rahmatu Allahi wa Barakatuhu"?

The most complete form of greeting is for the Muslim to say: "As-salamu alaykum" (السلام عليكم), whether definite or indefinite, as this has been mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah. Some scholars do not consider it sufficient to merely say "As-salam" (السلام) as a beginning or a reply. However, others, like Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen, have permitted restricting it to "As-salam" (السلام) or "Salam" (سلام), citing Abraham's reply to the angels and Allah's saying about the people of Paradise: "Their salutation the Day they meet Him will be 'Peace!'" (33:44).
