Is it obligatory to repeatedly wake family members for Fajr prayer, or is it sufficient to inform them once and then go back to sleep?

Scholars differ on the ruling of waking a sleeper for prayer, some deeming it recommended (istihbab) and others obligatory (wujub). Waking becomes obligatory when there is a fear of the prayer time expiring. One should strive to wake family members for prayer, seeking reward and to avoid the disagreement of those who made it obligatory. One's responsibility is fulfilled if the sleeper wakes up and becomes alert; merely informing them is not sufficient unless they actually awaken.
