Who is Abu Al-Fadl Al-Maydani, and what is the book "Majma' Al-Amthal"?

"Majma' al-Amthal" is a book of Arabic literature in which its author collected proverbs and arranged them alphabetically, explaining them, attributing them to their speakers, and mentioning their stories if any. If the proverb is recent or a saying of a Companion, its speaker is mentioned. However, it does not concern itself with authenticating them or clarifying their soundness or weakness.
