If the husband utters an explicit divorce, the divorce occurs whether he intended it or not. If it is the first or second divorce, he has the right to take his wife back during her waiting period (), and she must remain in the marital home until her iddah expires. However, if he divorces her three times, he cannot take her back unless she marries another man and he divorces her after consummating the marriage.
