Who was the first to draw a sword in the cause of Allah?

The first to draw a sword in the way of Allah was Az-Zubayr ibn Al-Awwam, may Allah be pleased with him. This was narrated by Abdur-Razzaq, At-Tabarani, and Az-Zubayr ibn Bakkar from Urwah ibn Az-Zubayr. More than one scholar has mentioned that its narrators are trustworthy.
