What is the ruling regarding a wife who requests divorce after repeated marital disputes, prevents her husband from seeing his son, and assails him and his family?

A wife is obligated to reside where her husband resides, and obedience to him is mandatory unless there is a legitimate شرعي reason for her refusal. If the wife refuses without a legitimate reason and becomes insolent, she is considered rebellious (nashiz). The treatment of rebellion (nushuz) has gradual, legitimate ways, and striking is not the sole or primary method, and it has a specific manner that does not involve malice or harm. The wife has the right to a separate home where she feels safe, but it is not a condition that it be next to her family. Her demanding this or divorce because of it confirms her rebellion. You are not obligated to fulfill her conditions, and you should strive for reconciliation by involving wise individuals and supplicating (du'a). If reconciliation is impossible, then divorcing her is permissible. The wife does not have the right to prevent the husband from seeing his son, even if divorce occurs and she has custody.
