What is the reason for the immense and boundless honoring of filial piety to such a great extent, even if the mother does not aid in her honoring and does provocative things?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Allah Almighty has commanded us to be dutiful to our parents due to the immense right of the mother, who bears, gives birth, suckles, and raises despite hardships, and due to the father's role in raising and caring. Obedience to parents is in what is good and lawful, for there is no obedience to them in disobedience to Allah, or in what stems from mere folly. If the mother does not help her son in being dutiful to her or provokes him, this does not diminish the obligation of honoring her in the slightest, for the right of parents is too great to be diminished by anything, even by their wrongdoing.
