To what extent is cooperation on righteousness and piety permissible when working with entities whose work may benefit non-Muslims, given that the verse states: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety"?

If a beneficial research project harms some people, this does not prevent its continuation, as it is like other beneficial things that may be used for evil, such as iron, which Allah Almighty mentioned in the Quran: "And We sent down iron, in which is great might and [many] benefits for mankind" (Al-Hadid: 25). And even though iron may be used for killing and aggression, this does not prevent its extraction and manufacturing, except in specific cases where it is known that the one who takes it will use it for sin. Scholars have prohibited selling weapons to those who will use them to kill. The point is that what can be used for both good and evil is not prohibited except in specific circumstances; otherwise, people would stop doing much good, developing the earth, and benefiting humanity.
