Is it permissible to study at the Faculty of Law, that is, to study law?
Studying man-made laws is permissible if the objective is to understand the superiority of Islamic law over them, or to benefit from them in ways that do not contradict Islamic law, or to benefit others. This is conditional upon not becoming preoccupied with them to the detriment of religious obligations, and maintaining a dislike for ruling by other than what Allah has revealed. Evidence for this is found in Hudhayfah's inquiry about evil. However, if the purpose is to act upon these laws or to teach them to those who will act upon them, then it is forbidden.
