What is the ruling of Islamic law on killing in self-defense or in defense of one's honor, and does the reckoning before Allah differ if the killing was in self-defense against an aggression?

A woman is permitted to learn self-defense arts provided that it does not lead to impermissible mixing (of genders), or the uncovering of 'awrah (parts of the body that must be covered), or the neglect of an obligation. However, it is better for her to stay in her home and protect herself. If someone assaults her, she is permitted to defend herself and her honor. If the aggressor cannot be deterred except by being killed, then there is no sin upon her in that, based on the hadiths that permit fighting one who intends to assault one's life, property, or honor.
