What is the ruling on using new creams and perfumes that contain ethyl alcohol in their composition?

If you suspect the presence of alcohol in cosmetics, the default assumption is that they are free of it, and it is permissible to use them. However, if you are certain of the presence of alcohol, then using them is based on the difference of opinion regarding the purity of intoxicating alcohol. If you believe in its purity or follow someone who holds that view, then there is no harm in using or gifting them. But if you believe in its impurity or follow someone who issues a fatwa to that effect, then you should not use or gift them; rather, you should dispose of them.
