How many times should Sūrat al-Mulk be recited for protection from the punishment of the grave?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It was reported in the hadith that Sūrat al-Mulk, consisting of thirty verses, interceded for a man until he was forgiven. The hadith was authenticated by several scholars, including Ibn Taymiyyah and al-Albānī. The intended practice is that a Muslim is recommended to recite Sūrat al-Mulk every night, act upon its rulings, and believe in its teachings.

It was also authentically narrated from ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd (may Allah be pleased with him) that whoever recites it nightly and remains consistent, Allah will protect him from the punishment of the grave. The Companions used to call it “al-Māniʿah” (the Preventer). Scholars from the Permanent Committee affirmed that whoever recites it with faith, reflection, and action, it is hoped that it will intercede for him.
