Is naming scholars "the father" (al-walid) similar to Christians naming priests "fathers" (al-aba'e) or using the word "Pope" (al-baba)?

It is permissible to address a scholar or an elder sheikh with the term "father" or "dad" as a sign of respect and reverence, not as a lineage fatherhood. This is indicated by what Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, I am to you like a father, teaching you." Moreover, the Holy Quran used the term "father" for someone other than a biological father, such as in the verse: "They said, 'We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac - one God. And to Him we are submitters.'" And Ishmael was an uncle, not a father. This is not considered imitation of Christians, for the forbidden imitation is that which pertains to their specific characteristics.
