What is the ruling on a guardian preventing his daughters from marrying a man who is suitable for them, and what is the daughters' position on this?

Some guardians prevent their daughters from marrying those whose religiosity and character are pleasing, due to personal whims. This is forbidden, sinful, and a betrayal. It is obligatory for the guardian to follow what pleases Allah and His Messenger. He must fear Allah and not prevent his daughter from marrying a suitable man; otherwise, she will be an adversary against him on the Day of Resurrection. And if the girl goes to the judge to complain about her father who prevented her from marrying a suitable man, it is her legitimate right.
