Is the financial support of a divorced mother, after the death of the father who was providing for her, the sole responsibility of the son, or do the daughters share in it according to their inheritance portion?

The maintenance of a poor mother is obligatory upon all her able-bodied and well-off children, both male and female, by scholarly consensus. The evidence for the obligation of maintenance comes from the Qur’an, Sunnah (definition), and scholarly consensus, such as Allah’s saying: "And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And to parents, do good" and the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, the best of what a man eats is from his own earning, and his child is from his earning." Scholars have differed on how this maintenance should be distributed among them, whether it should be according to inheritance shares or financial capability.
